Excalibur is located in the heart of the River North neighborhood, the epicenter of world-class dining and entertainment in Chicago. The striking red granite building, designed by famed architect Henry Ives Cobb in 1892 to house the Chicago Historical Society, is recognized as an architectural treasure and has been honored with designation as a historical landmark.
Excalibur offers an exceptional environment for dining, dancing and lounging and Excalibur’s professional party planning staff specializes in creating extraordinary special events and corporate functions in the unique and dramatic rooms of Excalibur.
Excalibur was named "Best Nightclub in Chicago" by the Chicago Tribune in its latest “Best of” Reader’s Poll, and has received similar awards almost yearly since it opened in 1989. In 1999, Excalibur was also named one of the top five entertainment attractions for visitors in Chicago by Where Magazine, along with Navy Pier, Second City, Blue Chicago and House of Blues.
The entertainment at Excalibur far exceeds typical nightclub fare. There are multiple nightclubs and lounges in the building, each with its own style and atmosphere. Guests can raise the roof on Chicago’s largest dance floor, chill out in cozy lounge areas, enjoy live entertainment, dine and play pool and arcade games.
The main floor Cabaret features Excalibur's performing DJs, "The Bad Boys of Live Late Night," putting on an interactive nightly show dubbed "comedy you can dance to" that has entertained millions over the past decade. The audience can dance, watch the constant skits and games and even get on stage and participate in the fun.
Upstairs in Club X, Thursday features the beat of salsa, merengue and bachata music with free dance lessons, as well as the international sounds of one of Chicago’s most acclaimed music groups, the Bandoleros in the Dome Room. On Fridays and Saturdays dance hits rock the giant dance floors of Excalibur, with amazing sound, light and video shows.
Excalibur’s lower level is for dining and chilling out, with billiard tables, lounge areas, a video game emporium and late night café.
Excalibur has private party rooms of many sizes and atmospheres and is the largest non-hotel private party space in Chicago, with a large hotel-calibur kitchen and catering and party planning professionals in-house. Excalibur books hundreds of private events yearly and is well known for amazing events.
